Project 1:Disney Lava lighting concepts
Our project was to take inspiration from the Disney short Lava an create a lighting Design concept using Rosco colors and gobos but also to describe how they would be used!

Gobo’s
The Design It Self
Here’s a large selection of colors and gobs I would use for the performance. I would incorporate
the audience as much as possible by making them feel as if they are on the island with some of
the foliage gobos to cast texture on them but also using the colors to show the emotions that the
volcano goes through.
I would start with warm colors on the stage maybe the R65 on the Cyc and then overlay some of
the floor and actors with R3441 and R15 to give a warm day time environment with adding
gobos G508 G510 and 77781 to the Cyc for foliage the G508 would be the blended with R53 to
make the clouds light against the blue Cyc with the other gobos being a mix of R386 and R90 to
blend the gobos tiger and add depth to the texture.
Once the time of day switches to night i would slowly fade the cyc to R74 and i would switch out
the cloud gobo for 79652 keeping them with the R53 but also adding a Fire gobo 77175 in the
clouds out of focus to recreate the night time illumination of the lava in the clouds with R25
As the other volcans is showing up under water i would like to bring lights up on the audience
with a dim blue R74 and R374 as if they are the other volcano or submerged with it as she
grows other colors can fade in like the purples R377 and R382
As the other volcano Europe The lights above the audience could start to slightly pulse maybe
strobe with the R65 R74 R374 and R25 R21 and once the volcano is up the colors could be R56
R374 with more foliage on them with gobos 71004 77781 and G510 colors varying between
R386 R89 and R90 \
As the other volcano begins to sink the audicance lights could begin to slowly fade away as if
the other volcano fades into he emerges once more! Those colors would be R74 for the volcano
to fade away. Once the volcanoes emerge again and are happy together The cyc can become a
violet color R56 and blend with R346 as a split cyc the gobos for the volcanoes can be 8640
which have vibrant colors in them for an island with the audience being lit with R332 a cherry
rose color and R39 a Magenta and R56 a lavender color

This design was crated for the play Swaddling Clothes by Yukio Mushima.

The Design
I’m using a lot of darker and less transparent colors for the show with the show mostly taking place at night i’ve chosen R382 for the outdoor night time scenes and R74 for the potential cyc R39 and R394 where chosen to be for the nightclub as a top / backlight on the table when the husband is telling the story. Altho i’ve chosen R52 / R02 to be used for the moments when it feels like Toshiko should be isolated while she’s in her thoughts remembering what’s happened. The other pinks and blues are saved for the chevy blossom trees and the bench scene as she arrives at the bench with the homeless man. I chose R76 to be the lights to isolate them while the trees would slowly fade out as she begins to believe that 20 years have passed. Thought the show the gobs selected would be used to show lots of foliage with 78084 and 777777 being used to seep into the house from the windows and G308 to be used for the cyc or drop when the cab passes office buildings and G528 and 78438 to be used when the cheers blossom scene occurs with the bench scene using the G709 as a breakup to almost show how she’s falling apart and breaking with the thought of the child.

As a class we worked together to crate some Lighting looks that where inspired by The Martyrdom of Saint Matthew That’s the Images shown on the right!

Project 5: Winter Wonderland Strawberry Sun
For this project we where given an image (the one on the right) to design a room with I took inspiration and crated a mood board laying out all the color’s and textures that i would use to crate the look then also crated a Lighting plot with the paper work as well!
