Over the past several years, I’ve served as a Lighting Crew Chief for numerous runDisney events across the Start Line, Finish Line, and Reunion Area. My responsibilities include overseeing lighting technical planning for my assigned area, coordinating crews, managing installation, and troubleshooting to ensure successful event execution.
What I do!
Technical Systems Design & Documentation
Working from CAD drawings provided by lighting designers, I develop the technical infrastructure needed to bring their designs to life.
- Calculate power requirements and plan power distribution.
- Design DMX network layouts and equipment placement.
- Review equipment orders and cabling requirements.
- Create detailed CAD overlays and technical paperwork to guide technicians through installation.
Event Execution & Troubleshooting
- As a Lighting Crew Chief, I coordinate technicians throughout installation and event operations, ensuring equipment is properly installed and systems are functioning as intended.
- I also troubleshoot technical issues and adapt system layouts when on-site conditions require changes, helping keep productions on track.
